Ingredients:
Eucalyptus oil, coconut diethanolamine, castor seed extract, natural botanical extract, non ionic wetting agent and aniouic surfactant.

Castor Seed Oil

Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean (technically castor seed as the castor plant, Ricinus communis, is not a member of the bean family) Castor oil (CAS number 8001-79-4) is a colorless to very pale yellow liquid with mild or no odor or taste.

Castor oil and its derivatives have applications in the manufacturing of soaps, lubricants, hydraulic and brake fluids, paints, dyes, coatings, inks, cold resistant plastics, waxes and polishes, nylon, pharmaceuticals and perfumes.

Vegetable oils, due to their good lubricity and biodegradability are attractive alternatives to petroleum-derived lubricants, but oxidative stability and low temperature performance limit their widespread use. Castor oil has better low temperature viscosity properties and high temperature lubrication than most vegetable oils, making it useful as a lubricant in jet, diesel, and race-car engines.

Cocamide Diethanolamine

Cocamide DEA or cocamide diethanolamine, is a diethanolamide made by reacting the mixture of fatty acids from coconut oils with diethanolamine. It is a viscous liquid used as a foaming agent in bath product like shampoos and hand soaps, and in cosmetics as an emulsifying agent.

Cocamide
Cocamide is a mixture of amides of the fatty acids obtained from coconut oil. As coconut oil contains about 50% of lauric acid, in formulas only the 12-carbon chains tend to be considered. Cocamide is the structural basis of many surfactants. Common are ethanolamines (cocamide MEA, cocamide DEA), or betaine compounds (cocamidopropyl betaine).

Diethanolamine
Diethanolamine, often abbreviated as DEA, is an organic compound. This colorless liquid is polyfunctional, being a secondary amine and a diol. Like other organic amines, diethanolamine acts as a weak base. Reflecting the hydrophilic character of the alcohol groups, DEA is soluble in water, and is even hygroscopic. Amides prepared from DEA are often also hydrophilic.

DEA is used as a surfactant and a corrosion inhibitor. It is used to remove hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from natural gas.

In oil refineries, a DEA in water solution is commonly used to remove hydrogen sulfide from various process gases. It has an advantage over a similar amine ethanolamine in that a higher concentration may be used for the same corrosion potential. This allows refiners to scrub hydrogen sulfide at a lower circulating amine rate with less overall energy usage.

DEA is a versatile chemical intermediate, principal derivatives include ethylenemine and ethylenediamine. Dehydration of DEA with sulfuric acid gives morpholine. Amides derived from DEA and fatty acids, known as diethanolamides, are amphiphilic. Diethanolmides are common ingredients in cosmetics and shampoos added to confer a creamy teccture and foaming action. Relevant derivatives of DEA include lauramide diethanolamine and cocamide diethanolamine.

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus oil has a multitude of uses and can be found in many everyday products. Many species of eucalyptus plants exist, but not all yield eucalyptus oil, which has a fresh scent and many useful properties. Eucalyptus oil is derived from steaming the leaves and bark of certain eucalyptus trees and plants.

Deodoriser, Disinfectant
The deodorizing and microbial properties of eucalyptus oil make it useful as a cleaner and disinfectang. It is an ingredient in many mouthwash products and has applications in wound dressings. Eucalyptus oil is said to decrease the amount of airborne bacteria and can be added to water in humidfiers and steam rooms to help detoxify them. Mixed with water, it makes a general household cleaner.

Veterinary and Natural Insecticide
This oil is widely used in veterinary medicine both as a medicinal agent and insect repellent. I can be sprayed on animals to help prevent fleas and ticks and is sometimes painted on horses'hooves to treat and prevent infections. Evidence exists that it will kill dust mites and it can be sprayed on plants to protect them from predatory insects. It also keeps insect (ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, etc) away.

Germicidal and Aromatherapy
Eucalyptus oil is used in soap for its germicidal and aromatherapy benefits. When used for aromatherapy purposes, eucalyptus oil can combat exhaustion and mental sluggishness. Although no scientific evidence to support the theory, many believe that the scent of eucalyptus promotes the feeling of mental well-being. Candles, massage oils and bath products attempt to capitalize on the benefits of eucalyptus'scent.

Its antiviral and antibacterial action will deter further growth of the bacteria or viruses. At the same time it will also have the effect of giving some protection to other members of the family.

Muscle Pain
Eucalyptus oil is widely used in home remedies. A couple of drops added to massage oil can be rubbed into the temples to relieve sinus pressure, or used to relieve sore muscles and joint pain. It is found in topical ointments that can be applied to the chest to act as a decongestant.

Respiratory Problems
This oil also comes in forms that can be inhaled to break up upper respiratory tract infections. It is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties which make it useful for bronchitis-like conditions. Eucalyptus oil is found in many brands of cough drops and throat lozenges.

Skincare
Adding eucalyptus oil to shampoo can help treat dandruff, and used in body lotion, it can calm irritated skin. The oil can be very effective in small concentrated forms, as too much of it can burn and aggravate the skin. It can also be poisonous when too much is ingested.

Eucalyptus oil can also be used neat:
-in order to remover sticker/decal residue from glass
-to remove paint, grease and ink from clothes
-use it as a stainless steel cleaner

ABOUT BIOBIASED

ABOUT BIOBIASED

Definition of a Biobased Product

A commercial or industrial product (other than food or feed) is composed, in whole or in significant part, of biological products or renewable domestic agricultural materials (including plant, animal and marine materials or forestry materials.

What is a Biobased Product?

i) Relies on plant or animals as the main ingredient.

ii) The plants or animals utilized are a renewable resource.

iii)With some exceptions, generally do not contain synthetic, toxins or environmentally damaging substances.

Does Biobased Product works as well as traditional cleaners?

Several factors such as temperature, agitation and dwell time must be taken into consideration when determine how well a cleaner or solvent works. Most biobased products are as effective as the traditional cleaners.
